Conferences and Symposia

CUREE has organized and sponsored (or co-organized) symposia in honor of senior earthquake engineering figures in academia; in addition to coordinating research activities to help integrate research findings into practice.

15WCEE - 15th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering
Bob Reitherman (Executive Director of CUREE) along with Polat Gülken (President of IAEE) presented the keynote address on the fifty year history of the Internation Association for Earthquake Engineering (IAEE). CUREE also hosted a special evening reception for friends and colleagues.
International Conference on Public Works for Public Learning
CUREE, in partnership with the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District is the recipient of a $3 million grant from the National Science Foundation to establish a permanent outdoor exhibition in the south visitor area at the San Francisco end of the Bridge.

An international conference is planned, starting with an evening reception on June 20, followed by two full days of presentations and a field trip to the Bridge. The keynote speaker will be Dr. G. Wayne Clough, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institute. The conference will present the process and results of the Golden Gate Bridge project, and showcase other examples of visitor-serving programs both locally and internationally.
