Faculty Position in Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics
The University of Colorado at Boulder Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering invites applications for a tenure track position in its Structural Engineering/Structural Mechanics (SESM) group to begin in Fall 2008. The applicant will be expected to develop an externally funded research program and to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The applicant must hold a Ph.D. in Engineering or other appropriate discipline. The position is offered at the Assistant Professor level, though exceptional candidates at other levels will be considered.
The SESM program at CU-Boulder has unique strengths in mechanics, materials, dynamics and reliability. We seek candidates with a research focus on structural dynamics, experimental methods, and/or structural reliability/risk/performance under extreme hazards. Performance simulation of structures under extreme events using the Colorado NEES state-of-the-art Equipment Site for Fast Hybrid Testing offers a special opportunity including collaboration between CEAE and campus researchers in safety/security, and socio-economic dimensions of natural hazards.
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering is comprised of 40 faculty members in six specialty areas: geotechnical engineering, structures and mechanics, environmental engineering, water resources, construction management and building systems. It is home to more than 500 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. Additional information about the Department can be found at http://ceae.colorado.edu and about the NEES Laboratory at http://nees.colorado.edu.
