Faculty Position in Geotechnical Engineering
The University of Colorado at Boulder, Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering invites applications for a tenure track position in Geotechnical Engineering to begin in Fall 2008. Preference is given to junior applicants at the level of assistant professor, although exceptional candidates at a higher rank will also be considered. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field,
strong fundamentals and modern analytical, computational or experimental training, appropriate research and practical experience, and the capability and vision to develop a vigorous research program in an applied area.
The candidate will have ample opportunities to collaborate with a strong and diverse geotechnical faculty as well as access to excellent computational and experimental facility such as CUs 400 g-ton centrifuge. We are looking for an outstanding candidate with research and teaching interests in any focus area of geotechnical engineering, including geomechanics and geo-environmental engineering, but we are particularly interested in candidates with the ability and desire to develop a research program that addresses issues relevant to engineering practice. Professional registration and consulting experience is considered an advantage for this position.
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering is comprised of 40 faculty members in six specialty areas: geotechnical engineering, structures and mechanics, environmental engineering, water resources, construction management and building systems. It is home to more than 500 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. The geotechnical engineering program currently has seven faculty members whose interests cover a broad spectrum in the field.
