Faculty Position in Engineering Mechanics and Materials
Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track position in its Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics (SESM) group to begin in Fall 2014. We seek candidates with research, teaching and professional interests and deep fundamental background in mechanics and engineering materials across a range of scales with applications in sustainable materials, material durability and material degradation, or innovative laboratory applications. We are especially interested in candidates whose research connects materials, mechanics and structures. Experience in experimental research is preferred, but not required. Candidates may have interest in the supercomputer Janus that is available to the department. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in engineering or other discipline appropriate to their area of expertise. The position is offered at the Assistant Professor level, however experienced candidates with outstanding credentials may be considered for Associate or Full Professor.

Successful candidates will be expected to engage in both undergraduate and graduate teaching, contribute to professional service, and develop externally funded research programs in their areas of interest while fostering collaboration with other faculty. Candidates whose expertise facilitates interaction across areas are especially encouraged to apply. Professional registration or the ability to become a registered professional engineer is desirable.
