The Georgia Institute of Technology invites outstanding applicants to fill an endowed chair position, the Raymond Allen Jones Chair in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Atlanta, GA. The School seeks individuals who demonstrate excellence in teaching, research scholarship, and service and have track records of leadership in the profession.

The ideal candidate will teach and lead research in areas that are influential to the structural engineering and/or construction industry and will complement research being conducted by faculty in the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech, the College of Engineering, and across the institute. Preference will be given to candidates that work in interdisciplinary areas that address critical local, national, and global challenges and contribute to the strategic research directions of the School, College, and Institute. These include resilient infrastructure systems, energy and sustainable infrastructure, multi-scale testing and analysis, innovative and sustainable materials, infrastructure and facility performance monitoring and assessment; decision making in complex systems and bio-inspired design.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering has vibrant programs in Construction Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Fluid Mechanics and Water Resources, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering/Mechanics/Materials, and Transportation Engineering. In both Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering, the School’s undergraduate programs are ranked 3rd nationally, and the graduate programs are ranked 4th and 5th, respectively. The School currently has approximately 790 undergraduate and 400 graduate students, and 54 full time tenure track faculty.
