The Golden Gate Bridge is located in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, a unit of the National Park Service. In addition to having extensive experience with the needs of visitors to the area, the National Park Service is the permitting agency for improvements at the site.

Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy
The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy is the non-profit arm of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, providing many visitor services such as tours, signage, and park projects design. It is the major fund-raiser for support of the GGNRA.
