Earthquakes are usually documented for historical record as scientific data, or in photos of the resulting damage. One of the most interesting and artistic historical records of seismic activity, and the events that have surrounded it, has been done as stamps, labels, and postmarks. The 2008 CUREE Calendar recognizes the contribution of the international postal system and the hobby of philately, or stamp collecting. Selected from the extensive collection of David Leeds, a retired engineering seismologist and avid stamp collector, the calendar displays examples on the philatelic topic of earthquakes. Printed in full color, with historical notes and a full page 2009 calendar, the
"2008 CUREE Calendar: Seismic Philately:" is both unique and informative.
The calendar includes 12 illustrated month pages, historic earthquake information, and dates of 2008 conferences and holidays.
